Tony Gwynn Jr. Biography

Tony Gwynn Jr. has a surname synonymous with baseball due to his iconic father Tony Sr.'s Hall of Fame career. Gwynn Jr. has also charted his own path in the game, with an eight-year major league playing career and a successful tenure since in the broadcast booth. 

Gwynn's career highlights include the 2009 season when he batted .270 for the San Diego Padres and his 2011 campaign with the Los Angeles Dodgers where he stole over 20 bases. The Brewers originally selected him in the second round of the 2003 MLB Draft.  

He played collegiately at his father’s alma mater, San Diego State.  Gwynn Jr. was a All-Mountain West Conference selection as a junior after batting .359 and swiping 25 bases.  

Since 2022, Gwynn has been the main color commentator on Padres radio broadcasts. He is also a popular sports talk radio host in San Diego.
