Sonia Citron Biography

Sonia Citron is an American basketball player in the WNBA for the Washington Mystics. A native of White Plains, NY, she would go on to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s basketball team for four years. She led her high school team to a 2020 Section 1 Class AA title, finishing with a 38-game winning streak. She was a two-time Gatorade New York Player of the Year and McDonald’s All-American.

She won ACC Freshman of the Year at Notre Dame in 2022 and enjoyed an illustrious career. As a senior, she averaged 14.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, shooting 48.4% from the field and 37.2% from three. She earned First-Team All-ACC and All-Defensive Team honors in 2024-25. She went on to lead the Irish to four Sweet Sixteen appearances.

Nicknamed “The Silent Assassin” for her quiet dominance and timely shooting, the Washington Mystics drafted her third overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
