Sage Maddalena Biography

Sagen Maddalena serves as an American Olympic marksman and U.S. Army Sergeant who competes in 10m air rifle and 50m rifle 3 positions events. Born on August 16, 1993, in Groveland, California, she began her shooting career in the 4-H program and later joined the California Grizzlies junior rifle team. Maddalena earned eight NCAA All-American honors at the University of Alaska Fairbanks while studying Natural Resource Management until her graduation in 2018.

She joined the U.S. Army in March 2019 before receiving her assignment to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) at Fort Moore in Georgia where she performs as a shooter and teaches others. Maddalena competed in her first Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020 where she secured a fifth position in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions competition. She secured a silver medal at Paris 2024 while finishing fourth in the women's 10m air rifle final.

At the 2023 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan she won bronze while she took gold in the women's 50m rifle prone mixed team event at the 2022 Championship of the Americas. At the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile Maddalena established a Pan American Games finals record with 249.5 points to win the gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle competition.
