Rubens Barrichello Biography

Rubens Barrichello, who was born in Sao Paulo, was a bright young driver who won five karting titles in Brazil before moving to Europe to compete in the Formula Lotus series in 1990. He won the title in his debut year, a feat he repeated the following year in the British Formula 3 Championship, defeating a young British driver called David Coulthard. At the age of 19, he was on the verge of joining Formula One but instead chose Formula 3000. There would be no championship, but a strong third-place didn't hinder his stock, and he joined the Jordan Formula One team for the 1993 season. Barrichello continues to be a great keynote speaker for the auto racing industry today.
