Morgan Scalley Biography

Morgan Scalley is the newly appointed head football coach of the University of Utah Utes, succeeding Kyle Whittingham in December 2025 after Whittingham's retirement. A Salt Lake City native and Highland High School standout, Scalley played safety at Utah (2001–2004), earning Second-Team All-American honors, Mountain West Co-Defensive Player of the Year (2004), and contributing to the undefeated 2004 Fiesta Bowl team under Urban Meyer. He joined Utah's staff in 2006, rising to safeties coach (2008), recruiting coordinator, and defensive coordinator (2016–2025), where his units consistently ranked among the nation's best, including No. 2 total defense in 2019.
