McKenzie Coan Biography

McKenzie Coan is an American Paralympic swimmer who made her Games debut at the 2012 London Paralympics at age 16, finishing sixth in the women's 400m freestyle S8 final. Born with osteogenesis imperfecta, she has overcome over 100 fractures to become a four-time Paralympic gold medalist and world record holder in multiple freestyle events. Coan's achievements include triple gold at the 2016 Rio Games and defending her 400m freestyle S7 title at Tokyo 2020. Beyond the pool, she is a disability rights advocate, author of the memoir Breaking Free, and a political science graduate from Loyola University Maryland
