Luis Ángel Gil serves as a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees. Luis Ángel Gil entered the world on June 3, 1998, in Azua, Dominican Republic before joining the Minnesota Twins as an international free agent in 2015. The Yankees acquired Gil in 2018 before he debuted in MLB on August 3, 2021 against the Baltimore Orioles by pitching six scoreless innings with six strikeouts.

The 2022 season became a lost year for Gil because he needed Tommy John surgery. The 2024 season brought Gil back to the Yankees' starting rotation where he won American League Rookie of the Year with 15 wins, a 3.50 ERA and 171 strikeouts across 151⅔ innings. The Yankees rookie record for most strikeouts in a single game belonged to Gil when he struck out 14 batters during his May 18, 2024 performance.

The medical staff placed Gil on the 60-day injured list after he suffered a high-grade lat strain during March 2025.
