Lane Hutson Biography

Lane Hutson is a star defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens, drafted 62nd overall in 2022. At 5-foot-10, 163 pounds, his dynamic play earned the E.J. McGuire Award for character and skill. At Boston University (2022–24), he led Hockey East in scoring as a freshman defenseman (47 points), a rare feat since 1983, securing Rookie and Scoring Champion honors, the Walter Brown Award, and First-Team All-American status. A Hobey Baker Top-10 finalist, he powered BU to a conference title.  Debuting in 2024–25, Hutson’s rookie NHL season saw him rank fifth among freshman defensemen in points, with 26 power-play points.
