Jon Cooper Biography

Jon Cooper is regarded as one of best coaches in the NHL, a sentiment he only enhanced by leading the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Stanley Cup in 2020. Cooper has coached the Lightning since 2012, making the club a regular postseason contender. Tampa Bay also reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2015 and the Eastern Conference Finals in 2016 and 2018. During that 2018 season, he also passed John Totorella as the winningest coach in franchise history. Prior to taking the reigns of the Lightning, Cooper had a lengthy career as a coach in the minors, including as the head coach of the Lightning's AHL affiliates in Norfolk and Syracuse.
