James Wood is a 6-foot-7 outfielder for the Washington Nationals, known for his rare combination of power, speed, and plate discipline. A Maryland native, he was drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2021 and later acquired by Washington in the blockbuster 2022 trade for Juan Soto. Wood made his MLB debut in July 2024 and quickly became a key contributor, finishing his rookie season with a .264 average, 9 home runs, and 14 stolen bases in 79 games.
