Gervonta Davis Biography

Gervonta "Tank" Davis is an American professional boxer and a three-division world champion. Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, his record stands at 30-0-1, with 28 knockouts. He currently holds the WBA Lightweight title (since 2023, previously the Regular version from 2019-2023) and has also held the IBF Super Featherweight title (2017), the WBA Super Featherweight title (2018-2020), and the WBA Super Lightweight title (2021). Davis is ranked No. 10 in ESPN’s pound-for-pound rankings and No. 3 in the lightweight division.

Raised in the crime-heavy Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood, Davis faced a tough childhood with parents struggling with drug addiction, leading to time in foster care. He began boxing at age five at Upton Boxing Gym under coach Calvin Ford, amassing an amateur record of 206-15, winning three consecutive National Silver Gloves Championships (2006-2008), two National Junior Olympic gold medals, and the 2012 National Golden Gloves Championship. He turned pro in 2013, debuting with a first-round knockout against Desi Williams.
