Emily Fischnaller Biography

Emily Fischnaller is an American luger competing in women's singles. A two-time Olympian (2018, 2022), she is known for her resilience after a severe crash during the 2018 PyeongChang Games, in which she broke her back and neck, yet returned to competition. Fischnaller began luge at age 10 via a USA Luge "slider search" and debuted on the World Cup tour at 16. She became Junior World Champion in 2013 and is a U.S. Army veteran through the World Class Athlete Program. In May 2025, she married Italian luger Dominik Fischnaller (2022 Olympic bronze medalist). As of 2025-26, the veteran athlete had her strongest season yet, including a world bronze medal, and aims to compete in a third Olympics at Milano Cortina 2026.
