Dominique Malonga Biography

Dominique Malonga is a French basketball player in the WNBA for the Seattle Storm. Born in Yaoundé, Cameroon, to parents who were former basketball players themselves, she moved to France at a young age and trained at Paris Basket 18 and other various clubs. She then joined Pôle France. At 15, she signed with ASVEL, was later loaned to Tarbes, and returned to ASVEL, earning significant accolades along the way.

She was drafted second overall by the Seattle Storm in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Her imposing size for the women’s game, 6’6” with a 7’11” wingspan, has drawn comparisons to her fellow French countryman, Victor Wembanyama.

Her historic dunk in October 2024, initially thought to be the first by a Frenchwoman, went viral. Internationally, Malonga starred for France, averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds at the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup, earning bronze and winning silver as the youngest team member at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
