Darnell Mooney Biography

Darnell Mooney is an NFL wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons. Hailing from Gadsden, Alabama, he played college football at Tulane University, where he led the team in receiving during his junior and senior seasons, amassing 48 catches for 993 yards in 2018 and 713 yards in 2019, with 19 total touchdowns. Known for his elite speed, Mooney ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine. He was selected by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round (173rd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Over his five-year NFL career (2020-2024), Mooney has played 76 games, recording 277 receptions for 3,585 yards (12.9 yards per catch) and 17 touchdowns. 

Mooney is known as a dynamic slot receiver and deep threat, complementing Atlanta’s Drake London. He was named the Falcons’ 2024 PFWA “Good Guy Award” winner for his media accessibility and demonstrated professionalism.
