Chicharito Biography

“Chicharito” is the nickname of Javier Hernández Balcázar, a prolific professional Mexican soccer player. A native of Guadalajara, the nickname translates to “little pea”, a moniker bestowed on him by his father due to his small 5’9" stature. He is Mexico’s all-time leading goal scorer with 52 goals in 109 international appearances. Hernández began his career with Chivas Guadalajara, debuting in 2006 and helping them win the 2006 Apertura title. In 2010, he joined Manchester United, winning two Premier League titles in 2011 and 2013 and scoring 59 goals in 157 matches.

He thrived in Europe, playing for Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham, and Sevilla. From 2020 to 2023, he starred for the LA Galaxy in MLS, scoring 39 goals in 82 games. Returning to Chivas in 2024, he scored eight goals in 18 matches despite injury setbacks.
