And in 2004, he recorded 243 victories, which was enough to earn him the Eclipse Award, the award given to the Outstanding Apprentice Jockey. Hernandez has since amassed over 2,500 career wins, including notable triumphs in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Classic aboard Fort Larned and a historic 2024 sweep of the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby with Thorpedo Anna and Mystik Dan, respectively. His enduring partnership with trainer Kenny McPeek has been instrumental in these successes.
