Versatile Olympian Lauryn Williams Keynotes Celebration of Women’s Athletics at Alma Mater

Two-sport Olympic star Lauryn Williams is set to make a return to her alma mater, the University of Miami this week. She will be the keynote speaker for the school's Celebration of Women's Athletics.

The fourth annual event takes place on Sunday at the Watsco Center and is presented by Adidas. Female student-athletes and former Hurricanes pioneers will be recognized.

Individual tickets to attend are $50. Registration also includes a ticket to the Miami versus Florida State women's basketball game that immediately follows the awards banquet.

Williams set seven school records at Miami and was a nine-time All-American. She won the NCAA title in the 100 meters in 2004 and is a member of the UM Sports Hall of Fame.

Williams then took to the Olympic stage, winning a silver medal in the 100m in 2004. She also won Olympic gold in track and field in 2012 and is a three-time World Champion.

Following her track career, Williams became a member of the United States bobsled team and won a silver medal in two-woman bobsled at the 2014 Winter Olympics. She was the first American athlete to win a medal at the Summer and Winter Games.
