Nike is now associated with one of the top rising stars in women's sports. They have signed 2017 number one overall WNBA Draft pick, Kelsey Plum, to a multiyear endorsement deal. 

Plum made her official debut as a pro this weekend in a preseason game. Nike has long capitalized on attracting "the next big thing" when it comes to athletes in an array of different sports. 

Many believe Plum can add some life to the WNBA as well. She already is generating the kind of attention for her shoe deal that is normally limited to stars turning pro into the NFL and NBA. 

Plum set a NCAA women's record by scoring 3,527 career points at the University of Washington. She officially broke the record with a career-high 57 points during her final Huskies home game. 

Plum also has the single-season record after putting up 1,109 points in her final season. She was a four-time first-team All-Pac 12 selection and a two-time first-team All-American.

Plum was the 2017 AP Women's Basketball Player of the Year. The San Antonio Stars made her the top overall selection in the WNBA Draft.
