Texas Tech Basketball Coach Chris Beard Speaks at ACU Tip-Off Dinner Next Month

Texas Tech head men's basketball coach Chris Beard has deep connections to Abilene Christian University. He will return to campus on November 7th to serve as guest speaker at the ACU Tip-Off Dinner. 

Beard was an assistant coach at Abilene Christian early in his career during the 1996-97 season. The event begins at 6 p.m. and it will be held in the Brown Family Club Level at Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium. 

Registration is $25. All proceeds benefit the ACU Men's Basketball Excellence Fund and anyone who has donated at least $100 in the last two years will receive a promo code for free admission. 

Beard went 18-14 in his first season as Red Raiders head coach. He had previously spent ten seasons at the school as the associate head coach under Bob Knight

Beard got his first head coaching job at McMurry in 2012 and took them to the NCCAA Regional Final. He then took over the Division II program, Angelo State, for two years before getting his first Division 1 opportunity at Little Rock.

In his one season coaching the Trojans, Beard led them to a 30-5 record and a Sun Belt regular season and conference tournament title. He was also named Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year.
