Stanford Women’s Basketball Coach Tara VanDerveer Keynotes Golden Acorn Awards Ceremony

Tara VanDerveer is an institution at Stanford University and one of the most successful coaches in women's basketball history. She was able to share greater insights into her leadership style as the keynote speaker at the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce Golden Acorn Awards ceremony. 

The event was held on September 28th from 5-7 p.m. at the Stanford Park Hotel. Onetta Harris Community Center volunteer Juanita Croft was one of three people presented with a Golden Acorn Award. 

With the awards ceremony in its 41st year, it is one of the top traditions in Menlo Park. VanDerveer certainly took pride in being part of an event so vital to the greater Stanford community. 

VanDerveer has been a head coach at the university since 1985 and led the Cardinal to two NCAA Championships. She is one of just three Division 1 coaches on the men's or women's side to win over 1,000 games. 

VanDerveer has led Stanford to 25 Pac-12 conference championships. She is a four-time National Coach of the Year and 12-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year. 

In 1996, VanDerveer coached Team USA to a gold medal at the Olympics. She is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
