Snowboarder Jamie Anderson Speaks at Lake Tahoe Community College Graduation

Lake Tahoe Community College held their 2017 commencement on June 30th. Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Jamie Anderson spoke at the event. 

Anderson is also a South Lake Tahoe native and she received an honorary degree. There were 151 students who received their associate degrees including her sister, Summer. 

The theme of the graduation was "Follow Your Dreams." They also handed out the LTCC Foundation Distinguished Alumni Award. 

Anderson won the inaugural gold medal in Women's Slopestyle at the 2014 Olympics. She has won 11 X Games medals, with all but one of them coming in Slopestyle. 

Anderson originally started snowboarding at the age of nine in 2000. She qualified for her first X Games four years later and won a bronze medal in 2006. 

Anderson also competes on the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour. In 2013, she started the Jamie Anderson Foundation, an organization which provides winter sports equipment to different promising athletes.
