SEC Network Analyst Marcus Spears Keynotes LHSCA Convention

While he now is more known for his analysis on television, Marcus Spears had a standout football career at Louisiana State University. He was in the state this week as the keynote speaker at the Louisiana High School Coaches Association Convention.

The event was hosted for the 32nd and final year in Baton Rouge on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Crowne Plaza. Next year, the LHSCA Coaches Convention will be held at the beginning of June in Lafayette.

Spears opened the conference with his 10 a.m. keynote on Tuesday. Several LSU coaches also spoke, including football coach Ed Orgeron and basketball coach Will Wade

While Spears was with the Tigers, he was a consensus All-American and two-time first-team All-SEC pick. LSU won two SEC titles in his career and the 2003 BCS National Championship.

The Dallas Cowboys selected him in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent eight seasons with the Cowboys before spending one final year in the league with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013.

Spears is now a prominent contributor on the SEC Network. He makes appearances on The Paul FInebaum Show and is an analyst on the program SEC Nation on Saturdays during the college football season.
