Rutgers Coach Chris Ash Speaks at Lauren’s First and Goal Football Clinic

This weekend, Rutgers football coach Chris Ash was in Easton, Pennsylvania for a great cause. He was the guest speaker at the 14th annual Lauren's First and Goal football clinic. 

The clinic was held at Lafayette College's Metzgar Fields and attended by over 1,700 players and 300 coaches. Proceeds raised benefit pediatric brain tumor research and services. 

It is named after Lauren Loose, a 20-year-old who has had a lifelong battle with brain tumors. Lauren's father John is a coach at Army West Point, allowing him access to call on many big names from the coaching profession to attend over the years. 

After a tough 2-10 first season, Ash is is entering his second year with the Scarlet Knights. He was the co-defensive coordinator for two seasons at Ohio State and a member of the staff that helped lead the Buckeyes to a win in the first College Football Playoff in 2014. 

Ash has experience as an assistant under Bret Bielema as well, first at Wisconsin from 2010-12 and then a year as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Arkansas in 2013. From 2000-2006 and again in 2009, he was an assistant at Iowa State. 

Ash spent two seasons in between those stints in Ames as defensive backs coach at San Diego State. He began his coaching career at his alma mater, Drake.
