Keynote Speaker Ricky Williams to Deliver Insights on Holistic Transformation and Healing

Ricky Williams was a standout football player who broke and set many records at the University of Texas at Austin. There, he won the Doak Walker Award twice, which was awarded to the nation’s top running back. His return for the 1998 season culminated in him winning the Heisman Trophy. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints fifth overall and enjoyed an 11-year playing career in both the NFL and CFL.

Ricky Williams retired from football early, concerned about further wear and tear on his body and wanting to shift his focus to studying holistic medicine. As someone who suffered from social anxiety and physical pain on the gridiron, he turned to cannabis to medicate himself for most of his life. This decision was often at odds with the NFL’s substance use policy.
He once stated, “[My] personal goal is to elevate the legitimacy of cannabis as a medicine and the respect of medical professionals for cannabis users.”
In 2021, Williams founded Highsman to empower athletes and sports enthusiasts with the alternative medicine. Given his intense passion and unique life experiences, Williams will look to promote this cause further in Miami next month.
