Paralympian Aimee Mullins Keynotes Event at Miami University March 30th

Miami University is hosting a very special event for women leaders featuring Paralympian turned successful actor Aimee Mullins. The M.I.A.M.I. Women Leadership Symposium runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 30th in the Armstrong Student Center.

Mullins is participating in a keynote Q&A presentation from 4-5 p.m. She will discuss the topic of adversity and how she has paved her personal path of success.

Regular admission is $25, but there is no cost to current students or Women's Giving Circle members. Those interested in attending must register by March 15th.

Mullins has become a great success in various endeavors despite having both legs amputated below the knee when she was a year old. At Georgetown University, she became the first amputee to compete in the NCAA.

Mullins competed at the 1996 Paralympics and was the first person to use the "Cheetah" carbon-fiber sprinting legs. From 2007-09, she served as President of the Women's Sports Foundation.

After her track career, Mullins transitioned into modeling and was named one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People. She has also had an acting career and recently starred in the popular Netflix series, "Stranger Things."
