Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson is one of the top stars in the NHL and a true fan favorite. His popularity in Ottawa led to a new partnership as brand ambassador for the Mark Motors Porsche dealership. 

The one-year deal includes Karlsson promoting the brand on social media. Mark Motors Porsche will be able to leverage the exposure from his 214,000 Twitter followers and an additional 189,000 followers on Instagram.

As part of the agreement, Karlsson will also attend some exclusive Mark Motors Porsche events. For the next 12 months, he will be outfitted with the latest in the Porsche fleet. 

The Senators originally selected Karlsson in the first round of the 2008 NHL Draft. He has since been a three-time All-Star and two-time winner of the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league's top defensemen. 

Last year, Karlsson led the league with 66 assists and set a new career-high with 82 points. He was the first defenseman to pace the NHL in assists since Bobby Orr during the 1974-75 season. 

Karlsson has also been a successful performer in international competition for Sweden. He helped the Swedes win an Olympic silver medal in 2014 while finishing tied for the most points scored in the tournament.
