Orlando Magic Great Darrell Armstrong Hosts His Annual Classic Weekend Starting Friday

This weekend, former Magic star Darrell Armstrong returns to Orlando to host his annual Classic Weekend.  The events kick off Friday night at 8 p.m. with a Evening of Entertainment at the Hilton Orlando.

On Saturday, the Darrell Armstrong Golf Tournament commences from Timacuan Golf Club.  The final experience comes Sunday with a Bowl-Off at Aloma Bowling Center from noon to 3 p.m.

Proceeds from the weekend benefit the Darrell Armstrong Foundation for Premature Babies.  There are several sponsorship opportunities that allow participants the opportunity to mingle with some of the sports stars in attendance.

Armstrong became an all-time Magic favorite after playing nine seasons in Orlando.  The little known point guard became the NBA's Most Improved Player and Sixth Man of the Year in 1999.

The following season, Armstrong led the famously-named "Heart & Hustle" squad to a 41-41 record and postseason appearance.  That year, he averaged a career-high 16.2 points and seven assists a game.

Armstrong defied the odds to have a 14-year NBA career despite being undrafted in 1991 and having to play in lesser leagues for several seasons.  Since 2009, he has been an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks.
