Olympic Skier Shannon Bahrke Keynotes Women in Business Conference

Salt Lake City is a former Winter Olympics host city that is a familiar place for skier Shannon Bahrke. This week, she served as the keynote speaker at the Women Business Owner Conference & Awards going on in town.

The event was held at the University of Utah. It was sponsored by The Salt Lake Chamber Women's Business Center and the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Awards that were handed out include Women Business Owner of the Year, NAWBO Member of the Year and Student of the Year.  Bahrke was able to share her story and what made her a success on the slopes.

Bahrke won a silver medal in moguls in Salt Lake and followed that up with a bronze in the event at the Olympics in 2010. Her 2010 win made her the first U.S. women to win multiple Olympic medals in freestyle skiing.

Bahrke also won two World Championship medals in dual moguls. She was the 2003 World Cup Champion in moguls and the 2009 U.S. National Champion in dual moguls.

Bahrke first joined the U.S. national ski team in 1998. In 2008, she co-founded the Salt Lake City-based company, Silver Bean Coffee.
