Olympic Gold Medalist Matthew Centrowitz Jr. Makes Appearance in Virginia Next Month

Track and field star Matthew Centrowitz Jr. garnered significant exposure for his exploits at the 2016 Olympics. On September 5th, he will be making an appearance at the Reston Town Center in Virginia to help promote his father's new book.

Matthew Centrowitz Sr. was also a two-time Olympian in 1976 and 1980. Both father and son will share their stories and sign copies of the book, "Like Father, Like Son: My Story on Running, Coaching and Parenting. 

The event is being hosted at 6:30 p.m. by Potomac River Running. The event is free and the Centrowitz's will also provide advice on running. 

Centrowitz Jr. is a specialist in the 1500 meters. He first made waves by winning a bronze in the event at the 2011 World Championships. 

Centrowitz Jr. went on to compete at the 2012 Olympics and finished just off the medal stand by 0.04 seconds. He redeemed himself in 2016 by becoming the first American to win Olympic gold in the event since 1908. 

Centrowitz Jr. also has a silver medal from the 2013 World Championships. He ran collegiately at the University of Oregon before turning pro in 2011.
