Olympic Gold Medalist Helen Maroulis Speaks at Alma Mater’s Graduation Ceremony

Next Wednesday, Olympic gold medalist Helen Maroulis has the unique opportunity to speak at her alma mater. She will be making an appearance at the graduation ceremony for Col. Zadok Magruder High School.

The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. at the Xfinity Center on the University of Maryland campus. Maroulis is arguably the most high-profile speaker for any Montgomery County Public School graduation.

Maroulis' presentation should be particularly powerful given her status as a former Magruder student. There is no doubt that she has a great story to tell.

In 2016, Maroulis became the first American to ever win a gold medal in Olympic women's freestyle wrestling. She defeated former three-time gold medalist Saori Yoshida 4-1 in the final.

Maroulis has also won three World Championship medals, including a gold in 2015. She is a three-time Junior World medalist as well.

Maroulis became a four-time WCWA women's college national champion at Simon Fraser University. She has been a Team USA member since 2008.
