North Dakota Basketball Coach Brian Jones Speaks at USA Basketball Coach Academy Next Month

After a historic season, University of North Dakota men's basketball coach Brian Jones has raised the profile of his program. The coaching world has taken notice and he will keynote an upcoming USA Basketball Coach Academy.

The academy takes place June 24-25 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. At the camp, experienced coaches help new coaches develop their skills.

While the opportunity to give back to the basketball community is important, Jones will also benefit in other ways. The interaction with several high school coaches over the two days will undoubtedly be a boon to UND recruiting.

This spring, Jones led the Fighting Hawks to the first NCAA Tournament berth of his tenure. UND finished 22-10 and won the Big Sky Conference regular and postseason championships.

For his efforts, Jones was named Big Sky Coach of the Year. He has also led North Dakota to five CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament appearances.

Prior to arriving at UND, Jones was an assistant coach under Steve Alford at Southwest Missouri State and Iowa. He began his coaching career at Nebraska-Omaha after a playing career at Northern Iowa.
