New Head Coach Sean McDermott Kicks Off Buffalo Bills Speaker Series

The Buffalo Bills Speaker Series kicked off on May 3rd with new head coach Sean McDermott speaking. It was held in the Press Box at New Era Field.

There were nearly 150 Bills Club seat members, suite holders and sponsors that attended the first of four Speaker Series installments. There was a social networking hour that preceded McDermott's appearance.

Bills Insider Chris Brown moderated the Q&A with McDermott. He discussed the offseason, took audience questions and signed autographs and posed for photos afterward.

McDermott was named the Bills head coach after six seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. From 2012 to the Panthers' 2015 Super Bowl season, they finished in the top ten in total defense.

McDermott built his coaching resume on Andy Reid's staff with the Philadelphia Eagles. He started out as the Eagles scouting administrative coordinator in 1999 and took several other positions before becoming defensive coordinator in 2009.

McDermott's coaching career began as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, William & Mary, in 1998. He was an all-conference safety for the Tribe during his playing days.
