Next Wednesday, New England Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty should encounter plenty of fans. He is serving as the keynote speaker at the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless Dream Big! Gala.

The event takes place at 6 p.m. at the Hotel Commonwealth in Boston. There will be a cocktail reception, silent auction and a live auction in addition to McCourty's remarks. 

Proceeds benefit one of the coalition's initiatives, A Bed for Every Child. 4,000 beds have been delivered to children through the program. 

The Patriots originally selected McCourty in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Rutgers University. He was a first-team All-Big East selection in 2009. 

As a rookie, McCourty recorded 82 tackles and seven interceptions on the way to being named a Pro Bowler and a second-team All-Pro. After transitioning from corner to safety, he has been named a second-team All-Pro two more times and was a Pro Bowl pick in 2016.

For six straight seasons, McCourty has been a co-captain in New England. He has also won two Super Bowls with the Patriots.
