New Cincinnati football coach Luke Fickell has been making the rounds familiarizing himself with the local community. On Tuesday, he spoke at a luncheon that was part of the West Chester-Liberty Chamber Alliance Regional Business Expo.
The "Taste of West Chester and Liberty Townships" took place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Skatetown USA. The cost to attend the luncheon was $32 for members and $40 for non-members.
The Regional Business Expo immediately followed from 1 to 5 p.m. It was free to attend for those who brought a business card.
Fickell is a Columbus native who is well-known throughout the state for his playing and coaching career at Ohio State. He made a program-record 50 straight starts on the offensive line from 1993-96.
Fickell spent a year in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, but tore his ACL and quickly turned to coaching. After a stint as a graduate assistant with the Buckeyes, he spent two seasons coaching the defensive line at Akron.
In 2002, Fickell returned to OSU and coached a variety of positions until taking the Cincinnati job this offseason. He spent the 2011 season as the interim head coach of the Buckeyes and led them to a 6-7 record.
