NBC Sports Broadcaster Mike Tirico Speaks at Kentucky Derby Festival Kickoff Next Month

Mike Tirico is the new face of NBC Sports and a prominent fixture on the network’s coverage of horse racing’s Triple Crown. This year, he will touch down in Louisville earlier than usual to help locals usher in the Kentucky Derby Festival.

Tirico is speaking at a kick off for the festival April 20. The There Off Luncheon takes place at the Galt House East Hotel and individual tickets are $85.

Tirico will certainly share some memories from working his first Derby last year. As one of the most eloquent speakers in sports broadcasting, he should be a treat to listen to.

Tirico joined NBC Sports in July 2016 and most recently worked the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. He is also the voice of the network’s Thursday Night Football package with the NFL.

Prior to joining NBC, Tirico spent 25 years at ESPN and ABC. From 2006 to 2015, he was the play-by-play man on ESPN for Monday Night Football.

Tirico originally joined ESPN as a SportsCenter anchor but quickly became one of their most valued game commentators. In 2010, the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association named him Sportscaster of the Year.
