NBA All-Time Leading Scorer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Gives Drew College Commencement Address

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has long been one of the most thoughtful minds in sports.  He will get to share some of that insight next month with the graduating students at Drew College.

Abdul-Jabbar has been named the commencement speaker.  The ceremony will be held on May 14th at 10:30 a.m.

In addition to speaking, Abdul-Jabbar will receive an honorary degree in humane letters.  No tickets are required for commencement, but seating is handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.

With 38,387 career points, Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA's all-time leading scorer.  In his 20 seasons, he won a record six NBA MVP award and was selected to a record 19 All-Star teams.

Abdul-Jabbar was also named to the All-NBA first-team ten times.  He won six championships, including five with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Milwaukee Bucks originally selected him first overall in the 1969 NBA Draft.  At UCLA, he was a three-time national champion and three-time Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
