NBA Agrees to Televise All-Star Draft

Last year, the NBA generated a lot of buzz when they decided to let team captains LeBron James and Stephen Curry draft teams for the All-Star Game. However, many fans who would have liked to see the picks these icons made were out luck when they conducted the draft behind closed doors.

That is all changing for 2019. The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association agreed to televise the proceedings this season.

Each conference's top vote-getter will captain their squads and make their picks in front of everyone on TV. If last year's 148-145 game won by Team James over Team Curry is any indication, this format is likely to be a smashing success that will be here for years to come.

Athletes have always used All-Star Weekend as a great showcase. This memorable experience has launched many NBA stars in the past to greater acclaim.

If you are looking for a speaker to energize your employees and add their expertise to your meeting or convention, there are a few former All-Star standouts that fit the bill. Magic Johnson and Spud Webb both shined on their sport's grandest stage and have gone on to great success after basketball.

Johnson was a 12-time All-Star with the Los Angeles Lakers and member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. He turned in one of the most memorable All-Star performances, scoring 25 points and earning All-Star Game MVP honors in 1992 in his return to the court following his HIV diagnosis.

Johnson has used his platform as a basketball legend to become a successful businessman and sought-after motivational speaker in his post-playing career. He is currently the Lakers' President of Basketball Operations.

At just 5'7", Webb defied the odds to have a successful 12-year NBA career. No one will forget a memorable night in Dallas in 1986 when he defeated a stacked field to win the Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend.

Webb relived that iconic moment when he returned to the Dunk Contest stage in 2010 to judge the event. He is currently the President of Basketball Operations for the Dallas Mavericks' G-League affiliate Texas Legends.
