The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) is hosting its Annual Convention and Expo in New Orleans from October 18 to 21. The gathering is the premier national business show for independent pharmacists and their teams, offering quality peer-to-peer business-boosting education on networking opportunities. The organization aims to promote the interests of independent pharmacists whose current and future success is vital to quality patient care, serving their communities and their regional healthcare systems.
Athlete Speakers was tasked with bringing in a keynote speaker who could engage this group of healthcare professionals from all across the country and deliver a presentation that would inspire and resonate. We secured Marty Smith, a prominent American sports journalist and ESPN broadcaster.

Starting his career covering high school sports and Virginia Tech football for The Roanoke Times and The Washington Post, he joined ESPN in 2006. Initially focused on NASCAR, Smith now covers college football, basketball, golf, and other sports, with features featured on SportsCenter and ESPN.com. He hosts “SportsCenter Presents: Marty Smith’s America” and co-hosts the popular “Marty & McGee” radio show and podcast with Ryan McGee.
Smith authored the New York Times bestseller “Never Settle: Sports, Family and the American Soul” (2019) and “Sideline CEO” (2023). Known for his Southern charm and mantra “Be kind. Work hard. The rest takes care of itself,” he has a strong social media presence and will be an invaluable addition to the 2025 National Community Pharmacists Association Convention, sharing leadership lessons from championship coaches, offering insights that extend beyond sports into everyday life.
