Louisiana Tech Football Coach Skip Holtz Gives Holy Cross College Commencement Address Saturday

Holy Cross College is holding commencement activities this weekend. An alum who has had success in the world of football, Louisiana Tech football coach Skip Holtz, will address the Class of 2017.

The ceremony takes place on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Pfeil Recreation Center on campus. Each graduating student receives ten tickets for commencement.

In addition to speaking, Holtz will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters. He spent time at the school from 1984-86 before getting his bachelor's degree at Notre Dame.

After graduating from Notre Dame, Holtz got into the coaching profession as a graduate assistant at Florida State. He would later join his father Lou's staff at Notre Dame in 1990.

Holtz spent two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Fighting Irish and was then named the head coach at the University of Connecticut. He went on to lead East Carolina to back-to-back Conference USA championships in 2008 and 2009.

Holtz also was the head coach at the University of South Florida for three years before taking the Louisiana Tech job. Under his watch, the Bulldogs have won nine games in each of the past three seasons.
