Retired Retired World Series Champion Johnny Damon to Keynote Charleston RiverDogs Banquet

Johnny Damon had a career that is going to get a lot of Hall of Fame consideration in the future and he remains a big part of the baseball world today. He will get to share some stories from his playing days on February 1 as the special speaker for the Charleston RiverDogs Hot Stove Dinner. 

The RiverDogs are the Single A affiliate of the New York Yankees. Part of Damon’s presentation will include his thoughts on playing for the Bronx Bombers and the rival Boston Red Sox. 

The event is being held at the Charleston Gaillard Center beginning with a cocktail hour and silent auction at 6 p.m. Tickets are currently available at riverdogs.com. 

Damon won two World Series titles with the Red Sox and was part of the Yankees squad that won the 2009 championship. He was one of just 75 people to steal over 400 bases and hit .284 over his career. 

Damon was a two-time All-Star while playing in Boston. He led the American League in stolen bases while with the Kansas City Royals in 2000. 

In addition to the notoriety he garnered for his time on the diamond, Damon has made appearances on reality shows like Celebrity Apprentice and Dancing with the Stars. He is also the author of the book, “Beating “The Curse” and Enjoying the Game of Life.”
