JFK University Names Former NBA Player Adonal Foyle Commencement Speaker

Former NBA player Adonal Foyle had made an impact that extends far beyond the basketball court. Later this month, he will share some stories about his philanthropic efforts as the commencement speaker at John F. Kennedy University.

The event takes place on June 24th at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California. As a JFK University alum, Foyle's presentation should be particularly impactful.

In 2011, he received a master's degree in sports psychology. There are nearly 400 graduates expected to attend the ceremony.

Foyle first jumped on the basketball radar at Colgate University, where he was a two-time Patriot League Player of the Year. He also set the NCAA record for career blocks before being selected eighth in the 1997 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors.

Foyle spent the first decade of his career with the Warriors and is the franchise's all-time leader in blocks. He also spent two seasons with the Orlando Magic and became their director of player development upon retirement.

Foyle is currently a Community Ambassador for Golden State. His work helping voting-age youth understand campaign finance reform garnered him induction into the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.
