IPFW Announces NCAA President Mark Emmert as Part of Omnibus Lecture Series

One of the most powerful men in college athletics is going to be apart of the Omnibus Lecture Series this year at Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne.  NCAA President Mark Emmert will speak at the third meeting of the school year on February 7th.

HIs presentation will begin at 7 p.m. at the Rinehart Music Center on campus.  The event is free to attend, but tickets that become available on January 23rd are required.

The series begins on September 8th with former Florida governor Jeb Bush.  Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Charlie Savage will also speak in November before Emmert gets his turn on the mic.

Since 2010, Emmert has been the president of the NCAA.  He has worked hard to change the governance structure of the organization while also raising the academic standards for student-athletes.

Prior to arriving at the NCAA, Emmert was the president at his alma mater, the University of Washington.  Under his leadership, the university completed a $2.6 billion fundraising initiative and rose to number two in the nation in research funding.

Emmert has a lengthy career in administration and was a one-time chancellor at Lousiana State University and the University of Connecticut.  He is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
