Iconic Broadcaster Verne Lundquist Speaks at Energy Capital Conference Next Month

The 10th annual Energy Capital Conference runs April 17-18th in Austin, Texas. Legendary broadcaster Verne Lundquist is the guest speaker at the event's Welcome Dinner.

Festivities take place at the Omni Barton Creek Resort. The Energy Capital Conference Golf Tournament opens up the activities on day one and the following day there will be 12 executive-level speakers.

Houston-based Hart Energy is hosting the conference. Throughout the presentations, new business approaches to funding A&D transactions will be discussed.

Lundquist recently retired from being the lead play-by-play voice for the Southeastern Conference on CBS. He still remains with CBS as a top broadcaster on their coverage of college basketball and golf.

Lundquist began his career in Texas and was a with the Cowboys Radio Network from 1967-1984. From 1977-1983, he was named Texas Sportscaster of the Year.

In addition to his more mainstream assignments, Lundquist also broadcasted figure skating during three Winter Olympics carried by CBS. He has had many memorable calls over the years and is perhaps best known for broadcasting Jack Nicklaus' improbable win at the 1986 Masters.
