Houston Astros Pitcher Collin McHugh Returns to Speak at His Alma Mater

Houston Astros pitcher Collin McHugh makes it a point to make at least one visit each year back to his alma mater, Berry College. This time, he was able to return as a World Series champion.

On Tuesday, McHugh began the day by visiting with professors and students. He also made a point to speak with the Berry baseball team as they prepare for a new season.

McHugh wrapped the day with a speaking engagement at the Krannert Center Ballroom on campus. The biggest topic of conversation was undoubtedly his experience this fall.

McHugh had multiple pivotal postseason moments. He threw four shutout innings in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series and pitched two innings of a Game 5 Astros win in the World Series.

McHugh battled back from injury last season to start 12 games in the regular season and pitch in the playoffs. He has spent the last four seasons with Houston, posting his best year in 2015 when he went 19-7 with a 3.89 ERA.

McHugh originally debuted with the New York Mets in 2012. He also pitched for the Colorado Rockies before being claimed off waivers by the Astros.
