Houston Astros Owner Jim Crane Keynotes University of Central Missouri First Pitch Banquet

Houston Astros owner Jim Crane has helped guide the franchise to an incredible turnaround. He was able to share some insights on the success as the keynote speaker for the University of Central Missouri First Pitch Banquet.

Crane is a 1976 graduate of UCM and spent time mitching for their baseball team. The second annual event had nearly 400 people show up at the Elliott Student Union last Saturday.

In addition to talking about the Astros, he shared stories from his road to becoming an owner of a professional sports franchise. Those in attendance could also take a photo with the 2017 World Series trophy won by Houston.

Crane purchased the Astros in 2011 and under his leadership, the franchise has returned to their winning ways. When he purchased the team, he also ushered their move to the American League.

Crane has been a Houston resident since 1980. He hit it big in the business world by founding Eagle USA Airfreight in 1984.

Crane is currently the majority shareholder in several companies through Crane Capital Group. He is further invested in the sports world as the owner of The Floridian National Golf Club.
