Save Our Neighborhoods and Streets has been helping the area around Port Huron, Michigan for 25 years. They will hold a special 25th-anniversary banquet next week with Pro Football Hall of Famer Lem Barney serving as guest speaker. 

The festivities takes place on May 11th at the Blue Water Convention Center. In addition to Barney's presentation, SONS will reveal plans for a new property that was donated to them. 

Following the banquet, there will be a special reception for alumni of the program. Sponsorship packages range in price from $250-$10,000. 

After being selected in the second round of the 1967 NFL Draft, Barney spent his entire 11-year career with the Detroit Lions. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro. 

As a rookie, Barney led the league with ten interceptions and was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He collected 56 interceptions in his career and returned seven of them for touchdowns. 

Barney is a member of the Detroit Lions Hall of Fame and has his #20 jersey retired by the team. He has also been enshrined in the Jackson State Sports Hall of Fame, Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.
