Georgia Tech Basketball Coach Josh Pastner Speaks at Ashworth College Graduation in August

Georgia-based Ashworth College is inviting a local sports celebrity to speak at graduation. Georgia Tech men's basketball coach Josh Pastner is speaking to the Class of 2017 on August 5th. 

The 30th-anniversary graduation celebration ill be held at the Cobb Energy Center at 3 p.m. They are expecting a record attendance of over 2,000 people at this year's ceremony. 

Ashworth is a leading online school that was founded in 1987. Graduates from their sister school, James Madison High School, will also receive diplomas at the graduation. 

Pastner just finished his first season with the Yellow Jackets and led the program to the finals of the NIT. He was named the 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year. 

Pastner was previously the head coach at Memphis for seven years. During his tenure, the Tigers made the NCAA Tournament four times.

Pastner guided Memphis to two regular season Conference-USA titles and three C-USA Tournament championships. Before becoming a head coach, he spent one season as a Tigers assistant after beginning his coaching career at his alma mater, Arizona.
