Four-Time Stanley Cup Champion Darren McCarty Makes Appearance at Flint Firebirds Game December 28th

Longtime Detroit Red Wings' fans will be excited when fan favorite Darren McCarty makes an appearance in Flint, Michigan next week. He will be at the Flint Firebirds game next Wednesday.

McCarty is taking part in an autograph signing session from 6-7:30. It is a free signing although a donation of $5 for the Firebirds Charitable Foundation is suggested.

The event is an addition to the team's normal College Night festivities. There are ticket discounts available for students and all fans will be treated to $2 beers and hot dogs.

McCarty is best known for being apart of four Red Wings teams that won the Stanley Cup. He had his best season in 1996-97, when he notched a career-high 42 points and helped Detroit win their first Cup in 42 years.

The Wings originally selected McCarty in the second round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Throughout his career, he was one of the most feared enforcers in the NHL.

After a comeback through the minors that wove through Flint, McCarty played sparingly in two final seasons for Detroit before retiring in 2009. In 2013, he released his autobiography, "My Last Fight: The True Story of a Hockey Rock Star."
