Former Star Pitcher Jack Morris Speaks at Helping Kids Round First Benefit Tuesday

One of the top baseball stars of the 1980s is lending his hand to help the inaugural Helping Kids Round First dinner benefit. Jack Morris will speak at the event that takes place on January 24th at the Hilton Garden Inn in Flandreau, South Dakota.

Helping Kids Round First is a non-profit that provides baseball equipment to kids in Nicaragua. They started the charity in 2007 and are embarking on their next trip to the Central American country the same day as the banquet.

Tickets are already sold out for the 300 person event. The organization is always looking for volunteers however.

Morris won 254 games in his career and led all pitchers in victories during the 1980s. He became known as one of the great postseason pitchers of all-time and won four World Series titles.

In 1991, Morris threw ten shutout innings for the Minnesota Twins in Game 7 of the World Series and was named Most Valuable Player. He was also a five-time All-Star.

Morris led the American League in wins twice and strikeouts once. In retirement, he has been apart of the broadcast team for three of the franchises he played with.
