Former Pro Bowl Kick Returner Allen Rossum Keynotes GECAC Community Action Dinner

The Greater Erie Community Action Committee hosted a former NFL standout last week. Allen Rossum served as the keynote speaker for their 47th annual Community Action Dinner.

The organization has been helping people in their region in Pennsylvania since 1965. Rossum has been active since retirement in rebuilding communities and also helps in the fight against childhood obesity.

There were around 700 people at this year's dinner. Rossum urged the area leaders to work towards revitalizing low-income neighborhoods.

Rossum was a star at the University of Notre Dame, where he set a NCAA career record for return touchdowns. He was also a captain of the team during his senior year and a two-time All-American in track.

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Rossum in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He went on to set team single-season records for kickoffs and kickoff return yards.

Rossum had his greatest success with the Atlanta Falcons. He was named a Pro Bowler in 2004 and set franchise records for career punt return and kickoff return yards.
